prince rama - Utopia = No Person
"Prince Rama explore the link between music and utopia with music for exercise routines" more or less sums up the communal funk of their first release for Not Not Fun. Aerobic mysticism is a much misunderstood and sneered at concept, but taken as sincerely as these guys it can be a beautiful thing. The first track washes your chakra with chants and purified Now Age vybz, before conducting 15 minutes of tribal disco percussions and New Beat-y machine rhythms alloyed with heart-bursting synths and rainbow explosions. 2nd track 'Exorcise (Chopped N Skrewed R.E.M.I.X.)' provides a psychic and physical warm-down, massaging any lactic build-up with a swirling collage of cyber-tropical synth washes and kneading, knackered beats. It's all quite bonkers but very lush.
