**Transparent Vinyl** Yet another superb entry for the Five Easy Pieces, this one a collaboration between two talents outta London and backed with remixes by Cloud Boat and Chairman Kato. From the top 'Data-Module' exhibits a streetwise sense of funk with its sharply contoured Electro syncopation and dipping' digital twists, but the turn-on-a-dime breakdown and subsequent dérive into yachting guitar chops and hovering chords informs us they've got a lot more up their sleeve. Like the clipped Dubstep-Boogie rhythm and cascading Giallo strings of 'JL8' for example, or the powerful, SND-style rhythm trickery and kaleidoscopic chord changes of 'Mantra'. Even the 'Data Module' remixes are of a fittingly superior standard. Cloud Boat reduce it to a hyperreal and ghostly scene of lurking subs and holo-ed drums summoning tormented voices from the ether, while Pictures Music's Chairman Kato flips it as digitally-duppied drag House cut sounding like a cybernetic Andy Stott. Strong twelve!
