Dead nifty HipHop/Jazz/Electronics from two like-minded producers on Project Mooncircle's split 'Faces' series. Hailing from Chicago and with a wealth of accolades to his name - an MA in Music Technology at Stanford, Low End Theory DJ champion, records on All City with Tokimonsta - Mike Gao presents five tracks of filigree drum programming and complex arrangements with a jazz-taught freedom on his side. On the flip Tokyo's Daisuke Tanabe, a former art student and with releases out on Ninja Tune, BBE and Brownswood Recordings, offers a complementary side of intricate electronic boom bap with a mellow vibe, neatly contrasting with the frayed chaos of Gao's. Sleeve artwork is by NYC's LNY.
