e.m.m.a - Rainbow Dust Part II
London party and music crew Wavey Tones make a very promising entrance with the debut from Merseyside-born, Putney-based producer, Emma. The bass magpies out there might well recognise her name from Sully's highly regarded FACT mix in 2011, where the king of swing included her A-side 'Rainbow Dust' amongst a ruck of his own productions. We're reacquainted with that superb riddim here and it sounds even better than we remember, finding a freshest blend of dainty casio keyboard twirls synched with crisp, Ikonika-like drums and humming subbass pressure that only seems to get better each time we play it. Meanwhile, flipside features the Zomby-esque flex of 'Dream Phone', nudging the tempo down to a 130bpm bump and swaggering to soured, juicy synth harmonics. A strong look for all DJ and dancer. TIP!
