metamono - Tape
Monophonic adventures in analogue sound from the Metamono collective for Ho Hum. Identified as electronic musician Paul Conboy, fine artist Mark Hill and composer/producer Jono Podmore, the trio adhere to a strict manifesto, including among it's tenets, to never; "use a microphone", "use mechanical sound generation", use digital sound processing", "remix", or "make overdubs", and quite importantly, never "be afraid of mono". They make their bloopy, dubby, almost radiophonic sounds on vintage, used and self-built equipment, obviously in thrall to the possibilities of "pure" electronic sound, returning to deeply rooted rockist principles of righteousness. Their creations range from rhythmically motorik, leftfield 'floor-friendly grooves to blunted, plongy space music with diversions into more defined Dubstep lurches.
