Morgan Zarate made his name as part of Spacek, and how he's back (alongside collaborator Acyde) as Theshining, a mysterious retro funk act with an equally odd moniker. Far from the future facing neo-soul of Spacek, Theshining seem to be more interested in taking things back to basics with this Motown-era slice of crate digging gorgeousness. It's almost like the duo gorged themselves on Stones Throw records and a zip before spending a few long nights in the studio. Connoisseur's soulful jams, for sure.
