**Limited, hand-numbered edition of 200 includes: 180gm virgin vinyl, letter-pressed CD, 16 page photo booklet, 12 x 12 bespoke print, A2 fold-out poster and download code redeemable from the label** A sumptuous, carefully assembled delivery from John McCaffery aka Scissors And Sellotape. Since moving to Melbourne, Australia from Accrington in the North West of England, John has left his Clickits duo and has mainly concentrated on output as Part Timer. Returning to the Scissors and Sellotape alias he used for a Cotton Goods release in 2009, we find him at his most layered, fragile state, arranging gossamer piano motifs over crumbling bass sounds and spacious field recordings, all with a meticulously nimble feel for texture and atmosphere. The piano sounds which imbue the album with much of its elegant, refined spirit were recorded in 3 hours at St Mary's Church in Thornbury and later deconstructed over eleven tracks, edited, resampled and rewoven into the bobbled, love-worn fabric of 'For the tired and ill at ease'. There's also an underlying theme reflecting "an atheist's fascination with the continuing hold that theology has over people - that despite years of humanistic advance, people still turn to their religion for meaning or relief from the pressures of the world." A beautiful thing.
