tunnels - The BlackOut
Tunnels is the Coldwave pseudonym of Eternal Tapestry and Jackie O Motherf**ker's Nick Bindeman. His killer debut solo LP is a sharply executed and set of minimal modern wave tracks conceived from a typical set-up of guitar, synth, drum machine and vocals but sounding much more accomplished than many we've encountered. In terms of production it's got a ferric quality, but not overbearingly so, and for pop value it's up there with the likes of John Maus or a slower, less dancefloor-oriented Xeno & Oaklander, each cut acutely contoured and most of all, with a memorable character; something which sadly can't be said for a lot of the revivalist stuff. Highly Recommended!
