Absolutely joyous stuff from this new 4AD-signed duo, whose music kinda bridges the label's formative era of lush dream-pop and its modern incarnation as home to Zomby, Joker et al. The EP's title track is just brilliant, coming over like Autre Ne Veut doing a Bond theme, a truly cinematic production - sparkling harp runs, plangent piano chords, swooning strings, crying sax - bordered with block party beats and vocals sing in imploring falsetto without being overly mannered. 'Swear' and 'Heart Crimes' are hypnagogic-flavoured but refreshingly unobfuscated, harmonically rich and full-fat pop songs - technicolour, synthed-out lovers' jams sounding how we wish Dam-Funk's Ariel Pink remix had, or even suggesting a Hud Mo-produced MGMT (in a good way). This is an incredibly bright-eyed, original and promising offering, completely irresistible to our ears.
