trophy wife - Microlite
Oxford trio Trophy Wife make their Moshi Moshi debut with this very fine 7", boasting the clean lines and frosted-over beats of 'Microlite' - a great A-side that channels the spirit of Balearic beat via the sort of production style Scando-dancefloor mavens Studio pinned down. The band self-deprecatingly refer to their oeuvre as "ambitionless office disco", but you'd have to work in pretty great office for that to be the case. The B-side's rather strong too, with 'Take This Night' layering polyrhythmic percussion and Afropop-influenced guitars.
