fantastic mr fox - Evelyn EP
Fantastic Mr Fox returns with an excellent 4-track 2x10" bearing no small resemblance to the work of Mr James Blake and Mount Kimbie. From the opening interjections of effervescent soul vocals, clipped beats and warm, hovering chords in 'Evelyn' or the fluid and flapping syncopations of 'Fool Me' we're instantly reminded of the aforementioned artists and that's high praise indeed. Again with 'Over' his burnished 2-step twitch is distinctly Blake-ish, even down to the slightly off-kilter chord progressions, while 'Sepia Song' steps off on a crisply reduced and well-rounded Garage flex with charming music box melodies.
