nick speed - Speed Of Sound
UR drop a dirty 4-track hiphop nugget from Detroit's Nick Speed. You might not know the name, but Nick has been making waves in the US hiphop underground, garnering the attention of 50 Cent's G-Unit with his work on Libido Sounds, a joint project with Elzhi of Slum Village. This lead to him signing with the Hiphop powerhouse, while a Model 500-sampling single 'What Up Doe?' caught the attention of Juan Atkins and Mike banks who promptly invited him into the UR fold. So, with one foot in each camp Speed drops four rugged downbeat hiphop cuts blatantly indebted to the crafty shuffle of Dilla but also with his own line in frictional blues licks that give his beats a unique personality.
