smegma - Smegma
*Strictly limited to 500 individually numbered copies for the world* La Station Radar present a rare transmission from the still virile members of the infamous LAFMS (LA Free Music Society) scene, aka Smegma. California's legendary improv and free noise-mongers are captured in full swing during a performance in 2009 at the 24 hour LAFMS Telethon Revisited event, plus two studio recordings. That recording arguably shifts from textured location recordings through a whole side of leaden, mesmerizing riffage with notable percussive inflections, electronic disruptions and unpredictable textural interjections including recitals from Liz Young concealed within a fluid psych vapour. The second side incorporates John Weise into the lineup - which also includes Ju Suk Reet Meate, Dennis Duck, Frederik Nilsen, Nour Moborak, Oblivia, Parker Lemus, Victor Sparks, and Ace Farren Ford - to offer a calmly cacophanous composition peppered with some really strange moments. The final track is almost like ritual far-Eastern meditation music made by a band of acid-fried improv legends. No actually, it pretty much is ritual far-Eastern meditation music made by a band of acid-fried improv legends. Comes presented in a hand-numbered, heavy card foldout sleeve with full colour photographic insert. Highly Recommended.
