deerhunter - Revival
A prelude to their forthcoming Halcyon Digest album, 'Revival' marks a typically inspired return for Deerhunter. The A-side is just about as hooky and as lean as the band have ever sounded, following up on the exploratory pop tones set by the Rainwater Cassette Exchage EP. Though not as nuanced, B-side 'Primitive 3D' might be even better. It's a terrific companion piece at any rate, alternating between a chugging verse and an eruptive, florid chorus, full of delay-flipped pianos - there's even an unexpectedly rampant guitar solo in there. Ace.
