Taking it back to er... '08, with a repress of Kyle Hall's highly sought after first release on Wild Oats. We get to witness the genesis of a style with these four tracks full of gritty, but sensual, Detroit house with soul. 'Fuse N Me' is a luscious House cut in the vein of KDJ or Theo, all convective currents of warm jazz keys entwined with marimbas embedded in heavy yet effervescent rhythms. 'I <3 Dr. Girl Friend' is a more laidback hiphop number, nodding to the likes of Dilla or Andrés, and that special someone. Awwww. On the other side we can hear something real special in 'Slow Dancensteppn On Toes', from those slipping MPC beats to the flourish of opulent strings and odd, insectoid samples scurrying about in the background. 'A World On New Old' is the most esoteric cut on offer, licking up a deceptively lazy and lo-fi beat with truly majestic keys sounding like the work of somebody way beyond his years.
