boris - Amplifier Worship
*75 copies only for the UK - the first time this album has ever been on vinyl. Due to the enormous length of the songs, as well as the originally crafted flow of the album, 'Amplifier Worship' was previously only available on CD. After much deliberation and clever editing the albums' massive content was made ready for vinyl. The artwork has also been given a tasteful overhaul by Southern Lord graphic wizard, Stephen O'Malley. Released on 180g double vinyl in deluxe gatefold sleeve* This was the first album I heard from Japan's finest metal exports Boris, and saying it hit hard would be an understatement. This is an album so heavy it makes most metal bands sound like Norah Jones, it's a crushing statement in how to do this stuff really right, and it's called 'Amplifier Worship' - how fitting. The record was originally released way back in 1998 when we were all still obsessing about something else I'm sure, but don't for a minute think it sounds old hat - this is Boris better than ever, and puts an album like last year's destructive 'Pink' totally into context. They might have gone further into structured songs and mainstream sound of late, but 'Amplifier Worship' shows they can do grit like nobody else on the planet, and the album is something of a milestone for the genre. I know you wanna hear some heavy sounds and I know you want to hear some Boris (if interest in the Sunn O))) collaborative 'Altar' album is anything to go by.) so do yourself a favour and invest in this destructive piece of plastic. Essential!
