boris - Absolutego
*75 copies only for the UK - the first time this album has ever been on vinyl. Due to the enormous length of the songs, as well as the originally crafted flow of the album, 'Amplifier Worship' was previously only available on CD. After much deliberation and clever editing the albums' massive content was made ready for vinyl. The artwork has also been given a tasteful overhaul by Southern Lord graphic wizard, Stephen O'Malley. Released on 180g double vinyl in deluxe gatefold sleeve* Oh Boris how we love thee! Finally available once more is this early album from Japanese drone fetishists Boris. It was actually recorded waaay back in 1996 when drone metal was merely a mainstay of academic rockers the Melvins and of course Earth themselves, but surprisingly it still sounds icy cool and as fresh as the day it was first conceived. Comprising of two tracks - one big fat 60+ minute monster and one shorter seven minute cut, this is prime Boris mayhem, going from layered feedback and droning textures to percussive beating and sludge laden riffage. Okay they might not be breaking new ground here, but you know I'm sure just how unbelievably good these guys are and this for me is one of their finest moments. Ignore the rather cheesy pseudo-psychedelic cover and simply sink into an hour of noisy bottom-heavy drone rock mayhem. Boris ain't afraid to rock, and thank goodness for that...
