amen dunes - Murder Dull Mind EP
Having recorded his previous album (last year's Dia, released on Locust) in a cabin out in the Catskills, Amen Dunes' Damon McMahon made this record in a Beijing apartment whilst living out in China. Quite remarkably, all the tracks here bar 'Diane' and 'Murder Dull Mind' were one take recordings completely made up on the spot. Fans of McMahon's previous work might be surprised by the lack of structure on show for some of these improvisations, but those aforementioned two 'proper' songs make up the balance with some heartfelt, haunting acoustics.
