Mikael and some irrepressibly inventive MPC skills, Paul White drops his much anticipated sophomore LP for Now Again/One Handed. As previous single 'My Guitar Whales' displayed, White has craned his ears further into the world of psychedelia than 'The Strange Dreams of...', using S.T. Mikael's broad range of individual styles to colour his beats with exotic eastern sitars and florid fretwork flourishes next to the typical assortment of radiophonic ephemera. The 25 tracks are still generally short; crystalline sketches transcribed from a kinetic mind via traditional hiphop methods, recalling Dilla or Madlib at their most loose and abstract, only with an eccentrically English accent sourced from charity shop digging missions and a lauded ability to spin gold from the mustiest of threads. It's this effortless and playful reconfiguration of such a deeply rooted style that's won him fan across the world, from Radio 1's MAH and Gilles Peterson to Diplo and the Stones Throw figures.
