moon duo - Catch As Catch Can
Back in stock! Wooden Shjips' Erik Johnson returns with his solo side-project, Moon Duo, touting a great new 7" that does a fine job of condensing his brand of deeply fuzzed psych snarl onto a single slab o' wax. The A-side immediately brings to mind a collision of Suicide and Spacemen 3, which probably isn't too much of a surprise given what Johnson gets up to in his day-job with Wooden Shjips. Here though, the sound is even more condensed, packed into a lean and minimal motorik rockabilly package, all coated in a fog effects. The B-side follows suit with a heavyweight cover of Scientists' 'Set It On Fire'.
