The Best of Bossy

Bossy was the band Cassie Ramone of Vivian Girls used to play in, and this LP collects some of the band's songs, recorded in 2006. Apparently the group were only together for around a year or so, but there's lots to enjoy in the fruits of their short-lived time together. You can hear Vivian Girls' Riot Grrrl ancestry in these songs, and the DIY recordings are far less fussed over and reverb-shrouded than the hazy bubblegum Ramone's current band tends to spout, making this an interesting document for anyone who's interested in where they came from. Also notable is a fun cover of Neil Young's 'Hey Hey, My My', which at times sounds surprisingly well put together - especially considering how, er, raw Vivian Girls are known for being.
