shitmat - Hang The DJ
In case you’re as yet unfamiliar with the dubious charms of Shitmat’s music, imagine the Devil’s own iTunes playlist soldered together with some of the most abrasive breakcore contortions known to man. ‘Radio Shitmat’ pretty much condenses everything Shitmat is about into nine minutes, as it skips through a helium-dosed version of the Ghostbusters theme before launching briefly into an R&B rendition of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, which itself segues into what I believe to be some sliced-and-diced Metallica riffage, only to come out the other end with some Shakespeare’s Sister sampling, which is also given the aforementioned HILARIOUS pitched-up helium treatment. That stuff just doesn’t get old. It’s a mere Billy Joel song short of hitting the very bottom of the abyss… Oh hang on, seven and a half minutes in and there he is… ‘Henry’s Hardcore Chickfest2001 Tour T-Shirt’ keeps the funnies coming, bringing together Lulu, Holly Valance and the theme tune to Wizbit (how depressing is it that I recognise all this stuff?) casting them into the kind of alarming happy hardcore production you’d expect to find on one of those compilations they only sell in Woolworths. Amazing. Sort of.
