CONSEQUENCE
consequence - Live For Never
New Zealand's Consequence came into contact with Exit Records head D-Bridge on a tour of his country. D-Bridge was hugely impressed with his techy, emotionally driven style and listed him onto the Autonomic podcast/events alongside similar minded players/producers like Instra:mental and ASC. This is the shortened quadruple LP version of his debut album 'Live For Never', featuring contributions from the aforemention peers with ASC appearing on the brooding 'From A Distance', dBridge enhancing the Vangelis-meets-Bassbins sound of 'Life Is Timing' and Instra:mental tightening the torque of 'Reflex Reaction'. On his own, Consequence creates vivid scapes informed by D'n'B but sitting neatly on the periphery of the style. With 'Fog' he crafts dense atmospheres using field recordings, grainy textured synths and acutely melancholy melodies, or on the epic couplet of 'Farewell' and 'Flashes' creates epic scene worthy of a James Cameron film (if he had a taste for emo-D'n'B). With a smart balance of heavyweight D'n'B steppers rhythms and open-heart harmonics we think Consequence may have just created one of the best D'n'B albums you'll hear this year.
