Second drop from Grievous Angel this week, making a huge impact with a shockout VIP version of Naphta's 'Soundclash 1', backed with his supremely odd grime-stepper 'Harpy'. In what's turning out to be quite an immense week for releases from the grime/step/F*ckKnowsWhatYouCallIt scene, Grievous lords it up high with his mix of Naphta's junglist 'Soundclash', forging the sort of darkside bass lick that sends shivers down your spine, and welding it into a hard-stepping garage framework indebted to the legacy of Steve Gurley and El-B. Absolute bomb track! On the flipside GA's wicked 'Harpy' sees the light of day, making nods to Wiley's early grime/post-garage reductions with a splintered percussive palette and agitated synth stabs balanced by a powerful dubstep bassline. Heavy, heavy tracks.
