pocket pet - We Send It EP
David Last and Segeke met in japan in 2005, and began collaborating on dancefloor tracks via email - David lives in new york city, Segeke in osaka. Segeke had been releasing electronic music solo, as well as playing guitar and programming for the japanese indie band "One thousand birds." David had been touring in support of downtempo releases of his for the Agriculture label, making music videos and producing dancefloor tracks for labels in the US and Europe. Pocket Pet's music is aimed squarely at the dancefloor, while creating a unique, sometimes complex, sometimes simple take on an often bizarre sonic world, making it practical and interesting in the same sweep. On the "wesendit ep," Segeke's influence can be felt in the subtle housey flavor and immaculate sound design of "with you," David's influence can be felt in the syncopated percussion, leg shaking low end grooves and strange vocal sounds of "shaky hands." The Suffragettes offer a heady dubbed out rework of the "wesendit" on the last track. Put together, their sounds rock bells.
