Originators of our twelve of the week for Tectonic just seven days ago, originally dropped into the right hands with this stealthy, self-produced three track dubplate. Good to track this down as it provides an illuminating bridge between the more deliberate full court sub pressures of the Tectonic piece and the more uptempo delights of burial’s hyperdub meisterwerk from 2005. “Lost city” runs at a strict dancefloor lick – tight rimshots, a bounding lowend punctuated with repeater drum and flute shimmers. As we mentioned last week in our review of the Tectonic twelve – there’s a noticeable preoccupation with the east, here “Shaolin” showcases an oriental flute over a busting sub-woofered dub garage piece, “Marachi” hints at the immense power we’ve been buggin to all week, rocking a drizzly bassline and taking it down lower. Nice.
