AKUFEN / RICHIE HAWTIN
akufen / richie hawtin - Forcept - Reinterpretations Volume One
Resurrecting the original master recordings of Richie Hawtin’s 1996 landmark minimal ‘Concept 1’ project comes ‘Forcept 1’, a three-part series of new reinterpretations from Akufen. Marc Leclair was influenced and inspired by hawtin’s minimal masterpiece and found his own music uniquely operating around the spaces of silence and noise.‘Forcept 1’ could almost be contended as a ‘concept 1’ megamix, using elements from the first four original hawtin records on volume one, the second batch for volume two and the final quartet on volume three. Akufen takes playful stabs, slices and loops from the material, chopping, dissecting and reversing all previous notions of what ‘concept 1’ created without losing anything in the translation. Less prone to the hiccup edits Akufen is so fond off, what's so great about these dits is the staunch defence of the breathtaking low-end that graced the originals, making them very good reinterpretations indeed. Strictly limited to 2000 copies only.
