Boomkat product review for:

japanese motors - Single Fins & Safety Pins

New on Vice records, this 7" hails from Californian rockers Japanese Motors, who stand about on some rocks whilst holding guitars and wearing sunglasses on the back cover. I'd have thought that was a sure-fire DON'T, to adopt a Vice-ism. Musically, Japanese Motors would seem to take cues from surf rock and early '60s rockabilly sounds, combining it all with a punky resolve on A-side 'Single Fins & Safety Pins' only to break down into a more sensitive garagey clatter for the slightly more interesting 'Oh Brother'.
