the emperor machine - What's In The Box?
A fine plate of cosmic and dubbed disco styles from The Emperor machine's synth wizard Andy Meecham for D.C Recordings. The A-side covers slack and slow cosmic disco on 'What's in the box' with a shimmering synth oddysee that should find favour with Lindstrom and Baldelli fans alike, and comes with a wicked 'Box Dub' version for those that need it. The B-side bears the uptempo disco strut of 'Non-Functioning Apeman' with some rampant synth modulations making for a squelchy dancefloor bomb, but it's the 'Functioning Apewoman' dub version that takes our money with a heavy echo chamber treatment that could have come from some post-punk-disco studio experiment in 1981. Very cool.
