Bees Dream of Flowers & Your Summer's Meadow Breath

An excellent three tracks to accompany last December's British Ballads album by ex-Jack main player Anthony Reynolds. Vashti bunyan's contribution to this three-track EP is the obvious choice as a standout, the choral and string arrangement's mirroring the ethereal, dreamlike quality of her vocal performance while haunting electronic tones lift the piece beyond the spectrum of traditional folk fare. New song 'Like The Sun Feeds From The Flowers' is a collaboration with Charlotte Greig, all sounding splendidly like a Nashville duet on this recording (but with Brit accents, obviously). Finally, the simple violin and electric guitar arrangement of 'It Isn't So' delivers an especially raw piece of gothic folk, perhaps reminiscent of I See A Darkness-era Bonnie 'Prince Billy or Nick Cave. Very good indeed.
