amen andrews (luke vibert) - Volume 5
Back in stock. All good things must come to an end...and it's a damn shame because Mr Vibert's Amen Andrews series for Rephlex really has justified the hype, a series that's set to go down as vintage Rephlex tackle and the most fun Vibert tinkering since the blinding "Plug" 3-parter a good few years back for the Rising High label. Part 5 polishes things off in style, the opening "London" obliterating that legendary Public Enemy sample with a myriad of breaks, cuts, edits, timestretches and rewired crecendo's that leave Flava Flav shattered on the ropes by the fruity end. Ace. "Guilty" on the flip returns once again to that "Cheesy"-era flava, those library samples coming in handy once again for one last masterclass, if you're gonna play around with beats, edits, samples and the goddamn Amen break - you best be equipped to do it with this sorta style. Nice one Luke, it's been a real blast. Killer.
