Back in stock. Yes yes yes yes yes!!! Give thanks, the new 'plate from Rhythm & Sound has landed and its another Basic Channel classic. Mark Ernestus and Moritz Von Oswald have pretty well defined dub and electronic music in their ten year career, and their series of vocal collaborations with a hand picked team of vocalists from new and old-school reggae, has staked a brave claim on the ultra competitive roots reggae crown. Enlisting inspirational support stateside from the wonderful Jah Batta, lyrically a hymn to musical intoxication, vocally somewhere near the deep roots credentials of the great Junior Reid, this could turn out to be one of their most memorable 10"s yet. Rhythms as we know have always been a sprung touchstone for the crew, and the addition here of deliberate, roasted wah wah guitar (played by Paul St Hilaire, aka Tikiman!) links this ridim to the sound of prime period Wailers, no exaggeration, albeit still with that delicious Berlin deep bass and movement. We can only gratefully consume and await the imminent vocal and version cds which collate this impeccable series. A must.
