The original 'Lickle Further' sparks off a chunky blend of drums and colourful soundsystem FX while 'Gun Talk' works on a stripped down and brooding vibe with ragged synthlines. Khan's grimy, stepping version is the big highlight, matching the MC's menacing delivery with an infectious, rollicking hardcore swing.
Craftier riddims outta Bristol courtesy of Guido & Baobinga. 'Ballin' arranges flared R&B synth bursts and flickering Juke rolls in a crisp but rugged post-Dubstep framework. Meanwhile, B-side 'Bumba' fluctuates between references to '04 era Sino-Grime and Purple Dubstep with tricky rollers drum programming. Good stuff.
Bristol-based Baobinga presents the first album on Build: a fifteen tracks collection of his collaborations with the likes of Hyetal, xxxy, Kowton, Mensah, Geiom, and Jack Sparrow, plus Roska and Untold remixes of his original tracks. Make sure to check his Kowton link 'Proper' for a killer downbeat swing, and the heavy 'Transpennine Express' for a darting future Junglist weapon.

After sterling drops with Shortstuff and Peverelist respectively, Hyetal goes in hard with Baobinga for Build records. Both tracks bear his signature light show of lazered synth excesses, alloyed with heads-down charging tribalism on 'Anything For Now' and coating the Beat mechanisms of 'Trouble' with technicoloured electro-static funk. Fierce tunes - big twelve.

Baobinga links with Mensah and DVA on his self-curated Build imprint. The standout is 'This Is Wavey' a heavy hookup with DVA on a carnival-styled romp, mixing Scratcha's drum palette with next sound design. Recommended.

Baobinga is the common factor in these two Brizzle-rooted romps also featuring Ginz and Cosmin TRG. 'The Good Stank' pairs him up with Ginz on a reinforced purple halfstepper sagging under the weight of ten-tonne drums and bass. 'I Get Ruff' pairs up with Cosmin TRG to work out a harder Funky variant with drums bordering on Breaks and chopped divavox to bring it back from the edge and onto London-friendly dancefloors.

Former Breakstep hero Baobinga makes his first forays into the mutant Funky bracket with 'Ride It' backed by a stupendously screwed Untold remix. Baobinga's original 'Ride It' is currently getting props from various Funky/Dubstep camps but we're struggling to get into it so far, but Untold's remix is a masterclass in forward thinking production, tumbling each bar into the next with a restless attitude and the kind of advanced skills that can achieve this well balanced blend of funky/febrile. Untold is a badderman!

The Multiverse family of labels has already given the world Tectonic, Kapsize, Earwax and Caravan, so the latest imprint to join its ranks, 'Build', comes to you with considerable pedigree. Run and curated by renowned bass operator Baobinga, the label has been conceived with the future-garage/UK Funky axis in mind and its opening plate delivers 2 tracks of partified and deadly low-end functions. Baobinga & ID handle the controls for "Tongue Riddim", a socafied bubbler complete with nicely staggered claps and the right balance of peaktime vibes and bass menace. Man of the… Read more
