Szjerdene follows up her appearance on Slugabed's 'Wake Up' 7" with a fully fledged future soul session on Ninja Tune. Born and raised in London but currently residing in Amsterdam, this 23-year old singer/songwriter proves some impressive chops on 'Patchwork', combining seductively strong soul vocals with dynamically tempered electronica and lavish instrumentation hinting at folk and neo-classical inspirations. Results range from the Slugabed-like hypeR&B simulacra of '4th Stranger' to the digitally-creased and rendered symphonics of 'Blue Lullaby', through to lavish blue soul and pop on 'Go' and 'Turn'.
