various / 14 tracks - The Best of 2012: Part Two
Part two of our 2012 round-up covers myriad bass mutations from all corners of the globe. As ever, the spirit of UK rave continues to provide inspiration; from Lee Gamble's impressionistic 'Diversions 1994-1996', to the crushing slo-mo rollige of Andy Stott's 'Up The Box', via DJ Q's good times rave-up 'All Junglist' thru the hybridised D&B torques of Darling Farah and South London Ordnance. On a grime tip, Chronik gave us the crackishly addictive excitement of 'Man In The Boot' while Spyro twysted Bok Bok proper and Terror Danjah asserted his prowess with the sublime slow-fast R&G ace 'Delicately'. Further from the centre there were mad mutations stirring from Dutch producer Jameszoo, here with the dotty 'I You Cherrypearl'; Kiwi producer FIS came with the serrated 2-step force of 'Wise Man' and the Americas represented with the iced-out darkness of Haleek Maul's '88'.
