What does FLAC mean?
FLAC is a lossless audio format designed for superior sound quality.
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio.

Deciding that America already has its fair share of good quality modern-Americana singer-songwriters, it's now Australia's turn to give it a go - Australiana anyone? Jack Ladder studied in the States though, and maybe this is where he developed a taste for Smog-style stripped-down lovesongs and simplistic acoustic bliss. Some of you might recall the absolutely sublime and similarly Antipodean Grand Salvo album from a few months back (on the Preservation label), apparently Jack Ladder's debut was recorded in the same studio, and certainly there are more similarities than mere geography. Ladder has a lightness of touch to his playing and a magnificent grandeur in his voice as he details drunkenness and lost love, all this and he's only 22 years of age. They must be on some heavy liquor over there in Sydney, I've seen Wolf Creek though, I know how dangerous it is down under - it toughens the young'uns up like nothing else. A clear highlight of the album comes when Ladder's voice is accompanied by the dulcet tones of Holly Throsby on 'Two Clocks' and the classic male/female interplay is simply breathtaking. For fans of the Tindersticks, Smog or Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, 'Not worth Waiting for' shows that you don't need to travel the open plains of the Mid West to write effective, heartfelt acoustic ballads. Recommended.
