cid rim - CID RIM (Micro Album)
Another on-point smash-n-grab from the LuckyMe crew, CID Rim is from Vienna, and that’s about all we know apart from that this debut mini-album is a veritable masterclass in synth-drenched dance music. It’s a hard sound to adequately categorize, and maybe that’s down to the wealth of influences CID Rim manages to squash into his productions – there’s the harmonic drive of fellow LuckyMe member Machinedrum, the low-slung grind of Flying Lotus, the affectionate 80s adulation of the Night Slugs crew and the cosmic abandon of Rustie and it all somehow works together. It’s a Frankenstein construction, but CID Rim avoids the pitfalls and manages to sound just as positive and just as fresh as everything else from the LuckyMe camp, and who can argue with that...?
