rose kallal - Vermillion Vortex
Rose Kallal's boutique imprint for experimental electronics We Can Elude Control presents her own soundtrack work, backed with a remix by Lichens' Robert A.A. Lowe. 'Vermillion Vortex' was conceived to accompany a "mindbending visual essay on capital, media and faith" by John Russell commissioned by Art Review, and takes form as murky expanse of synth drone embedded with distant, clattering percussion and a half-heard spoken word vocal by the British artist and curator, Mark Beasley. Robert A.A. Lowe's version is far more muscular and dynamic. He weaves sprouting modular synth lines around Kallal's original piece causing it to corruscate and pulsate with a more organic psychedelic intent. This is the third release on the label following releases by Regis, Roger Semsroth (Sleeparchive), and Mick Harris.
