Brothers Kleefstra meet Gareth Davis for a patiently slow, minimal and atmospheric suite of six electro-acoustic songs. As the story goes, Jan and Romke Kleefstra encountered Gareth Davis' music accidently when they received one of his albums via mail order by mistake. Luckily they liked it and contacted him via myspace, later meeting up at their studio on a farm in the Netherlands for two February afternoons of wholesome improvisation overseen by a flock of geese and some local Frisian cows. Those spontaneous, evocatively warm yet wintry results are collected on 'Tongerswal', cobining Gareth's sparse contrabass flute notes with drifting, dreamy bass drones and for each piece, passage of poetry spoken in the old Frisian language (translated to English in the accompanying booklet). Lovely.
