Coined by Modern Love's Andy Stott, the phrase "Knackered House" best describes that strain of liminal, busted production we can't get enough of. Taking a blurry-eyed, shifty perspective on a well trodden sound, these artists yield a selection perfect for those lost hours in the dead of night. Twisting the meme between the ceramic grind of G.H.'s 'Albedo', Morphosis' psychedelic saga and the soporific step of Kassem Mosse, we take in Pye Corner Audio and The Advisory Circle's electroid vignette 'November Sequence' before a lungful of Vessel's brilliant 'Blowback' and Kowton's dumpy 'Dirty Little Bomb'. Manchester represents with Andy Stott's outstanding wrong-speed remix of BNJMN beside Holy Other's arresting inversion of This Will Destroy You, and we move thru stranger, dislodged rhythms from Dro Carey and Theo Parrish, ending at Richard H. Kirk's disintegrating 'Ekoplatz' remix to start 2012 with a proper sluggish ruggish ball.
