coki - Don’t Get It Twisted
Weapons grade double whammy from the DMZ don gorgon! 2011's been a relatively quiet year, release wise, for Coki. But make no mistake, he delivered the goods in killah style on his 'Boomba' wrecker for Tempa some months back. All that pent up studio energy is expended over four tracks here, headed up by the monstrous 'Tree Trunk', where mind-wiping mid-range synths snarl and convulse against a grizzled halfstep riddim, backed by the triple concentrated torque of 'Lower Octave'. On the 2nd plate 'Celestial Dub' eases up with smoked-out organ chords and echo-chamber FX for the skankers, while 'Think Your Gone' goes weirder again with lip-curling, whisky-sour synths and drowning subbass pressure.
