isan - Eastside
Simon Scott's Keshhhhhh label presents a truly lovely side from Isan, backed with revisions by revered producer Taylor Deupree, ultra-minimalist Steinbrüchel, and Scott himself. Isan's glacial original 'Eastside' borrows its title from the name of the Birmingham gallery in which the piece was conceived and composed, where "Over the course of 9 weeks, a sonic environment emerged from ten speakers placed around the gallery, based on recordings made and tones generated within the gallery, only reaching it's final form in the last two weeks". The final results spanning the A-side are essentially a reduced version of the end product; a beautifully refined and super sweet beatless twinkle which could have happily ended in a locked groove. It's safe to say the shorter remix contributions are equally special. Scott's 'Eastside Flame Attire' mix is a gentle diffusion of the original elements, teasing out a slow bass swirl and hi-end drones, while Deupree's is all plangent pops bubbling in an exqusitiely fragile sound sphere, and Steinbrüchel's a tantalising headful of gaseous harmonics... a gorgeous record.
