marcel dettmann - Conducted
Muscular, manipulative Technohouse mix from Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann. Issued on Belgium's Music Man imprint, 'Conducted' is Dettmann's first commercially available mix since 2008's scene-defining Berghain 02 selection. It comprises 18 tracks cherry-picked from his renowned arsenal, restlessly shapeshifting between linear 4/4 House and Techno and more brukken, funked-up machine variants with a knowing, overarching agenda. Highlights have to be the deployment of Monojunk's seminal 'Channel B', his personal fave Reel By Real's 'Sundog', the brilliant appointment of Morphosis' stunning 'Too Far' and the irresistible Belgian breakbeats of Cheeba Starks' 'GoGo Bop (A Trip To The Bodega)', but it's really all about the instinctive ebb and flow of his groove, the tension between potential and brute, funked-up force.
