Nick Edwards aka Ekoplekz cements a solid year, here in collaboration with Ralph Cumbers aka Bassclef. Under the aegis of Ekoclef 'Tapeswap' consolidates their differing approaches via the classic means of mailing tapes back and forth, upholding a tradition which has been used since the days of tape networks in the early '80s and whose DIY sonic culture has very much influenced the slew of killer Ekoplekz releases for Mordant Music, Punch Drunk and Further Records this year. It's also a fairly radical departure from anything we've previously heard by Bassclef, smudging his typical digitized sonics into a deliciously noxious, boggy 4-track sound absorbing trace elements of radiophonic experimentation and viscous dub. This should be considered a real treat for fans of everything from the Ghost Box crew to Conrad Schnitzler to Daphne Oram, Matthewdavid or Sun Araw.
