gilles peterson's havana cultura band - Havana Cultura: The Search Continues
Early in 2011 Gilles Peterson returned to Cuba in search of the islands new talent, following the success of his previous compilation. With Digital Mystikz Mala (due to deliver his own Havana Cultura edition), and his buddy Simbad in tow, Gilles recorded one CD of material with his hand-picked Havana Cultura Band featuring a stream of guest vocalists and musicians, resulting in fourteen fresh but classically-rooted Cubano aces. He also rounded up the best of the recordings he discovered on the island on a 2nd disc, from Hip Hop-styled swagger of 'Colpe Seko to the super cool Interactivo, the skanking Heavyweights Brass Band and Reggaeton from Kola Loka, 16 in total.
