the early years - Memory Case
Ex-Beggars post-rock troupe The Early Years return with this extended EP, which shows the breadth of their current sound. While they still retain most of the guitar-led shimmer of their earlier releases, there’s more than just a nod to the Kraut focus present in indie rock right now. Vocals are dirtier and synthesizers are forced through plenty of amplifier tubes to give the tracks the warmth required. There’s something about ‘Memory Case’ that makes me think of dirty, sweaty basements – and that’s a very good thing indeed.
