Having already spent some time playing alongside The Boats, new Moteer signing Chris Stewart comes well-versed in the sort of intimate electronic manoeuvres that have shaped the label's reputation. "Shed" is a multi-instrumental collage where acoustic sound sources are fused with subtle electronic treatments, resulting in the kind of magical sounds you'd hear from Matt Elliott, Mum, or early Kim Hiorthoy. Stewart draws sounds from a well of modern classical influence, but handles that template with the kind of innovative irreverence that made works by Max Richter and Helios sound so vibrant. The dust-caked beauty of 'Morning' and its introductory piano tones gently ease you into Stewart's universe of creaking, cinematic loveliness. Strains of violin and bristling wind chimes populate the gauzy clamour of 'Breeze', while on tracks like 'Storm' and 'Valley' a more full-bodied sound is achieved, complete with a backbone of drums. More than most labels, Moteer have truly developed their own signature sound (with the likes of Manyfingers, Clickits and The Boats themselves), and Need More Sources provides a captivating variation on that theme
