This is the second part of an immense collection of neo-Wave tracks, from minimalist cold wave to experimental synth-noise, collated by the hugely respected Wierd Records outta New York. Inspired by the seminal compilations of early industrial music such as Xtract Records' 'The Elephant Table' and the 'Insane Music' cassette series, this comp unites artists from Miami to NYC and continental Europe under a banner of resistance to computerised sound and polished pop. The revitalised synthesizer is used a folk instrument not unlike the acoustic guitar or violin only decades before, reborn as a conduit of human expression vulnerable to sleight of hand and the contrary whims of its user. Xeno & Oaklander's Martial Canterel offers a huge highlight on the Anglophilic, angular electro-pop of 'Pathway Splits Apart', amidst stringent EBM like Led Er Est's 'Woman In A Cafe/Communication' and strange synth forms from groups with amazing names like Sleep Museum and Cadaver In Drag. Highly recommended!
