cyclobe - Wounded Galaxies Tap at the Window
Cyclobe have been operating in the shadows of darker ambient music for over a decade now. They collaborated with Jim O'Rourke and Nurse With Wound on Beta-lactam Ring Records for their last release 'Angry Eelectric Finger', over six years ago, before returning to Phantom Code in 2010 with this unsettling suite of arcane and enigmatic ambience. The trio comprises former Coil members Ossian Brown, Simon Norris and Stephen Thrower colluding in unheimlich unison, crawling back up the spiral vortex into wyrd zones of slow, ritualist percussion and morphing, dissonant synth shapes infused with a modal eastern spirituality. The album oscillates between shorter passages and two more expansive, enveloping compositions. Fans of NWW, Coil, or Possession should check in with this.
