kelpe - Chocolate Money EP
Kelpe's latest appears on underground Dutch HipHop label Fremdtunes, featuring remixes from Huess, Coco Bryce, and Pierce Warnecke. 'Chocolate Money' is like some modern day equivalent of loungin' psych-rock, with crisp downbeat conga percussion and fuzzy-edged synthlines in a wonky context. Again 'Goldfishing' sounds like some obscure Silver Apples track, mixing charmingly crooked synths with tight live drum edits to also remind of Mweslee. Huess follows with a warmly exotic mix of 'Chocolate Money' while Mssrs Bryce and Warnecke give heavily compressed and cosmic nostalgia revisions of 'Goldfishing', respectively. A real must for fans of Dorian Concept, Rustie, or the Beat Dimension crew.
